It has been drawn from life in charcoal on Arches watercolour paper. The berries have been added in watercolour.
Wanting to see how much I can bring charcoal into all my art I have used charcoal to represent the twisted shapes of this lovely bush which sits just outside my studio window. There is a distinctive double loop which looks like a heart. Gesso has been added in parts to create texture, representing the rougher parts of the branches.
It is framed in a rustic dark wooden frame and is ready to hang.
I have written a blog post on the making of this drawing. You can visit it by clicking on this image below
